CLIENT: Columbia Cascade Housing Corp.
CLIENT GOAL: Design a senior housing project that takes full advantage of, and respects, its amazing location.
DESIGN RESPONSE: New two-story 25 unit building located on a 2.1 acre site nestled in a bucolic setting amongst the peaks of the Columbia River Gorge. Project includes 20 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom independent senior housing apartments with mountain views from every window. This Pacific Northwest lodge style complex has a rustic two-story stone fireplace, open wood stairs, and heavy timber porte cochere and porch. The bio swale is a prominently located landscape feature that cleans storm water naturally with indigenous plants. The state-of-the-art rain screen technology protects the structure from rain driven by high winds in the Columbia River Gorge.
