Saratoga Retirement Community – Saratoga, California

Services Employed: Architectural Design, Interior Design, Renovation

CLIENT: Pacific Retirement Services

CLIENT GOAL: Restore this stately building to its former grandeur and provide independent living facilities for the area’s aging population.

DESIGN RESPONSE: This project creates a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) on a 37 acre site in an upscale California area. The focal point of the project is the restoration of a Spanish Colonial Revival building designed by Julia Morgan in 1921 for the Oddfellows organization. This restored and renovated building provides 15 luxury congregate living units, as well as dining, commercial kitchen, and common areas. With styling sympathetic to the main building, Ankrom Moisan also designed 38 duplex cottages and 90 independent congregate units in two new buildings, as well as extensive site improvements for the project.
